Sorry folks, no pictures today. We cannot find the camera charger and camera to pc cable. Somehow we lost them between the 1.3 miles it takes from the hospital and our humble abode.
With fantasy football season drawing to a close, some of you may be starved for stats. Not that a child should be quantified like the back of a baseball card, but these indicators give us an idea when Colin will meet his milestones so we can bring him home! From my feeble understanding, the 3 main milestones are weight, temperature, and feeding.
His weight has to reach 1800 grams which is roughly 4 pounds. For the past couple of days, his weight has been:
12/19 - 3lbs 14.0oz. birth weight
12/20 - 3lbs 15.0oz.
12/21 - 3lbs 12.9oz. natural dip in weight due to his little body adjusting to being manually fed
12/22 - 3lbs 11.3oz.
12/23 - 3lbs 12.9oz.
12/24 - 3lbs 13.2oz.
12/25 - 3lbs 13.0oz. weight drops slightly prompting NICU to add fortified solution (baby version of weight gaining shakes; yummy, extra calories!) to breast milk
His isolet (incubator) has to reach 28 degrees Celsius so we are 1 degree away (it was originally set at 31 C. Colin's body is starting to heat up more efficiently; when he was in utero, Mommy was doing all the work! Teach him to rush into things :~) Maybe not!
He is rather young to pick up some eating concepts so feeding is the hardest concept for him to learn. Through muscle memory, we are trying to teach him latching and sucking. Feeding can take up to an hour at a time, which is a lot of work for his parents than him. He is getting better but he tends to space out. It is really funny.
Anyhoo, I have lost most of you at this point because the pictures are the main reason you dial in. Thanks for all your support. Please forgive us if we have not thanked you individually...we'll get there :~>
